Curtis

Where to start? I have always been fascinated with other cultures and the traditions that these cultures hold close to their lives. It is no wonder that I pursued the call to be a missionary to Micronesia, Marshall Islands. My wife Cheryl and I lived on these remote islands for a little more than ten years together. Many days we had no running water nor electricity. We did have a beach ministry and that ministry was very unique as we had to learn to adapt daily to whatever island life had for us that day…Sometimes it meant no running water, no electricity, language studies, fishing for food, eating raw fish, getting sick, being homesick, typhoons, roofs being blown off, burying the dead, teaching children, loving people, dying to self and always praising God. Almost always praising God.

I know that God took these years to help to develop who Cheryl and I are today.

I have been on staff at the Grove Church since December 1st, 2003 and I love being here.

To be able to serve people through pastoral care and to accept them just as they bring great joy to my life.

It is like being on the mission field. Cheryl is a school teacher in the Mukilteo School District and she loves her position immensely. I am so proud of her because she gives it to her all in everything that she does and God has blessed her because of her commitment to see children educated and not to be pushed through a school system.

Cheryl and I have been married for 25 years, we have no children but we do have two doxies, Petta and Bella. I want to go camping with Cheryl but she reminds me that she has camped with me for 10 years every day in the Marshall Islands. I like windsurfing, spearfishing, baseball and I have been known to cook meals for 100 plus guest at a time…never thought I would do that! Cheryl loves to read, go shopping, spending all of my hard earned money, teaching is her passion. We truly are excited to be part of an amazing team here at The Grove Church.
